With a love of the arts from a early age, Wayne started out working in graphic design with a apprenticeship with the Government Printing Office in his home town of Masterton.

Creativity and working for a government department saw Wayne finish there before completing the apprenticeship.

Then started working in photography with a move to Tauranga in 1980 and in 1987 won a scholarship to study in the United States. Upon returning in 1989, he started working as a commercial photographer.

Wayne has been a member of the NZIPP gaining Associate status, with many accolades for his work include a Gold at the Iris Awards in 2000. He’s has been member of the AIPA from 2009 to 2024.

Specialising in multiple genres, Wayne is renowned for his studio photography of people and products. His range also includes commercial construction sites and industrial photography for annual reports.

Wayne operates out of his studio on Tenth Avenue in the Tauranga CBD.

Wayne has had several solo exhibitions of his work and was selected to exhibit with a group in the ‘Bay for Above’ in 2008 and ‘People of the Bay’ in 2009 as part of the Tauranga Arts Festival. In 2016 he was part of the AIPA ‘Lie of the Land’ exhibition at Circa Gallery in New Market, Auckland.

Wayne Tait Studio

The Tenth Avenue Studio is a commercial photo studio located in central Tauranga.

The 108 sqm studio features a 4m ceiling height with natural overhead light. It’s large enough to cater for groups or larger products. There’s a 5m wide white coved cyclorama and a second smaller flat walled studio with a polished concrete floor.

The studio has kitchen facilities and on-site parking.

Wayne uses state of the art lighting and equipment to ensure your vision comes to life.
