Cyclorama completed (Yay!!!)

January 28, 2016

The Cyclorama is now completed and has come up really well. Over the last week the concrete floor was stripped and prepared for paint, the curved joints plastered. Paint consisted of two coats of primer then two top coats of matt white, about 4 litres and 1.5 hours per coat (pleased i slashed out on a 355mm roller). Although this has been a busy week shooting haven’t used it yet, I did have a shoot schedule for it tomorrow postponed. I have a shot a time-lapse of the process will post with the next few days.

Newton St Studio Cyclorama build – day two

January 19, 2016

A lot of planning and logistics went into today, the jib wall has been stopped, sanded and primed. The ply ribs, cut by Custom Rubber of Oropi (the name doesn’t suggest they run three CNC routers, that can cut wood or metal), the 8.5m fibreglass cove custom made by Ocean Dynamics of Tauranga. Today was fit the ribs and fix to floor, and glue and screw the fibreglass down in one piece, the timber in front is to hold the fibreglass in place while fixing.

Newton St Studio

January 14, 2016

I have been in the new studio since mid November, but have just started the Cyclorama build. Quite a bit achieved today in the first stage of the cyclorama, a cove from wall to floor to create a seamless background (the coved section not in place until the flat section is completed). Measures 8.5 X 4.2 meters high, it is a large area to create a continuous surface. Doug & I helped Greg the builder with Anthony McLeod plastering.
